The Γ-convergence of a Sharp Interface Thin Film Model with Non-convex Elastic Energy
We give results for the Γ-limit of a scaled elastic energy of a film as the thickness h > 0 converges to zero. The elastic energy density models materials with multiple phases or variants and is thus non-convex. The model includes an interfacial energy that allows sharp interfaces between the phases and variants and is proportional to the total variation of the deformation gradient.
متن کاملShape optimization for a sharp interface model of distortion compensation
A mechanical equilibrium problem for a material consisting of two components with different densities is considered. Due to the heterogeneous material densities, the outer shape of the underlying workpiece can be changed by shifting the interface between the subdomains. In this paper, the problem is modeled as a shape design problem for optimally compensating unwanted workpiece changes. The ass...
متن کاملA computational method for sharp interface advection
We devise a numerical method for passive advection of a surface, such as the interface between two incompressible fluids, across a computational mesh. The method is called isoAdvector, and is developed for general meshes consisting of arbitrary polyhedral cells. The algorithm is based on the volume of fluid (VOF) idea of calculating the volume of one of the fluids transported across the mesh fa...
متن کاملLagrangian Sharp Interface Schemes for Multimaterials
We present multi-material simulations in the Lagrangian framework. The methods employed are based on classical Godunov-like methods that are adapted to treat the case of interfaces separating different materials. In the models considered the gas, liquids or elastic materials are described by specific constitutive laws, but the governing equations are the same. Examples of gas-gas and elastic-el...
متن کاملModeling full - Mach - range cavitating flow with sharp interface model
In this work, two extensiosn of our previous work are proposed for the simulation of full-Mach-range cavitating flow with sharp interface model. These extensions are: a new interface-interaction solver, which includes a new HLLC Riemann solver suitable for both strong and weak interface interaction with general EOS, and a simple phase-change model which assumes that the phase change is in therm...
